Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is a Government initiative that targets extra money at students from deprived backgrounds. Research shows that students from deprived backgrounds underachieve compared to their non‐deprived peers. The Premium is provided in order to support these pupils in reaching their potential. It is important to note that students who are eligible for increased Pupil Premium funding are representative of all academic abilities.
The Government has used students entitled to Free School meals as an indicator for deprivation, and have deployed a fixed amount of money to schools per students, based on the number of pupils registered for Free School meals over a rolling six-year period (“Ever 6 FSM”).
At Chetwynde we will use the indicator of those eligible for Free School meals as well as identified vulnerable groups as our target children to ‘close the gap’ with regard to attainment.
