8th October 2020
Dear Students and Parents
The Government has announced today that A levels and GCSEs will be held three weeks later to help address the disruption caused by the pandemic. It is also expected that the majority of vocational qualifications will do the same.
The 2021 summer exam series will now start on 7 June and end on 2 July for almost all GCSEs.
One maths and one English GCSE exam will be held before the May half term.
Results days are provisionally planned on Friday 27 August for GCSEs (TBC)
The Government will now be undertaking a process of consultation to identify potential risks to exams at a national, local and individual level, and consider measures needed to address any potential disruption. This could be a student unable to sit exams due to illness or self-isolation, or schools affected by a local outbreak during the examination season meaning centres cannot open.
Further details on this consultation are due to be published later in the Autumn term. Once we have this additional information, we will communicate this to parents and students as appropriate.
