Inset Day - What do we get up to?18 December 2019 (by admin) |
18th December 2020
Don't forget that Monday 6th January is an inset day for teachers.
We will be spending the day exploring how we can increase our students' vocabulary, particularly subject-specific vocabulary. Research shows that regular reading and vocab capture in lessons are good markers of success and important strategies for helping students to reach their potential.
We will also be looking at how we sequence learning from primary to secondary. We are in a unique position in Barrow as we are the only 'all-through' school. This means that we can plan seamless learning from KS2 to KS3 that eliminates the 'year seven lag' that most secondary schools suffer. Students that are with us from reception to year eleven have the benefit of having a teaching staff that knows them inside and out.
There will be some department time for subject teams to spend time planning and discussing teaching and learning for the next term.
These are important days for teaching team to keep up to date, have professional conversations and continue to up-level teaching practice and knowledge. Teachers are learners too!
